General introduction about Le Segment A.B
The company was founded in 1927, based on the private enterprise of Amédée Bollée, automobile manufacturer since 1890. This company, initially named "Les Segments Amédée Bollée", specialised in the manufacture of piston rings for combustion engines.
In the 70’s, production was successfully diversified with the introduction of compression rings for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Today, the sale of rings in these two sectors represents more than 40% of the company’s annual turnover. The company adopted the name "Le Segment A.B" in 1989 and began producing rings suitable for high temperature sealing applications (800° material: Inconel 718) with a specialisation for the manufacture of barelled rings for hydraulic motors.
Le Segment AB has expanded its activities in two sectors: aeronautics and hydraulics.
The company obtained ISO 9001 V2000 certification in 2001.
In 2007 it improved its monitoring capacity by applying SPC statistical process control to all critical dimension.
The Bollée family was the owner of the company until 1989. Since 1990, the company is a SASU with a capital of 200 000 €, controlled by the AFE group via Mancelle de Fonderie for 100%.
